Short summary of the text

The first part is about a criminal vocabulary. You learn the name of different crimes. And what the crimes mean, like the crime “inside trading” or the crime “arson”.

The second part is about a captain in court-martial, and he tells a story about his submarine crew, they were out on a trial cruise and suddenly they struck a mine. And so the submarine got grounded, the lieutenant commander contacted the base over coms, and after that he understood that the air and food wouldn´t last for everyone, because they had to stay there for 1 week before help could arrive. And so the lieutenant commander killed 15 of his men, and after that he killed himself, and so the men that had families could survive for 1 week.

My Opinion

I learned a lot of new words while reading and working on this text, and I think the story was good. It was kind of harsh and brutal but it´s a nice change to what we normally read. And some may like the text and some may not, but I thought it was fun way of storytelling, skipping from the captain in court-martial and inside the submarine. And actually you get to decide the verdict, if the lieutenant commander that killed his crew to save the others is guilty or not guilty, that engages the reader and that’s a good thing because you can be a part of the story.

So overall I liked the text, because it was different and could potentially happen in the real life.
